New year, new beginnings! I am thrilled to share that my role has changed within the Garff organization and am now the Vice President of Philanthropy for Ken Garff Enterprises. What that means is that I will lead the strategy for philanthropic work for Garff family including the Success in Education Foundation, the Robert H. and Katharine B. Garff Foundation, and the Crimson Collective. It also means I am still 110% all in on Women Who Succeed! Working alongside all of you to change the trajectory for young women across Utah lights a fire within me and literally feeds my soul!
I look forward to seeing you all at our Founder’s Tea in March!
Getting Our Daughters Involved in
Women Who Succeed
As we head into our 2024-25 program year, we want to spotlight our focus on the potential of our own daughters and how Women Who Succeed could benefit them in their educational career and self-growth pathways. If you have a high-school aged daughter or family member, please consider them for our mentee program. We often hear of members who look back and wish they had their daughter or family member participate.
Please invite your female family members to join!
We encourage you to have a conversation with your daughters and their friends about the program. Talk with female leaders in her school about the program to help other young women who want to be mentored. Send them our way or to www.womenwhosucceed.org. Help give them the opportunity to gain leadership skills and confidence that will set them on a successful path. Young women from every demographic and all interests, in Jr. High, High School, and college, are encouraged to join! We hope to make navigating this time for these young ladies easier – even the future generation rockstars of our WWS moms!
Get Involved in Esports:
Volunteer or Host a Vendor Booth
Mark your calendars and join us in supporting our sister program Ken Garff Esports!
On March 6th, over 2,400 students will attend Spring Celebration, the biggest esports event of the year at the Jon M. Huntsman Arena at the University of Utah! In addition to hosting the state finals championship, there will be an ALL-DAY series of STEM-centered workshops: panels by industry leaders, coding competitions, video game design competitions, drone flying basics, 3D printing, and more!
Women Who Succeed members can support in one of the following ways:
Last year we had a phenomenal turnout of women participating as volunteers and vendors at the event. We appreciate your support in making this year a success!
Returning Mentee Highlight:
Ta’Mariah Jenkins
As we have begun to recruit for the 2024-2025 mentee program, we want to feature an awesome mentee returning to the program for her third year! Ta’Mariah Jenkins is currently a student at Utah State University, studying Business Management with a dual minor in Leadership and Anticipatory Intelligence. Her dream job is to travel and work in corporation, government, or healthcare management. Ta’Mariah was born in Anchorage, Alaska and has 8 siblings. She enjoys planning events, watching anime, crocheting and beating anyone at XBox Kinect Just Dance.
We are so excited to have Ta’Mariah join Women Who Succeed as a mentee for the third year in a row and we have so many other amazing young women rejoining the group for the 2024-2025 program year. Please help spread the word about the program so we can get some new mentees signed up as well! We are especially focused on recruiting upcoming 11th and 12th graders (current 10th and 11th) so we can support more high school mentees prepare for life after graduation.
New applicants can apply to the mentee program HERE.
