A Note from Erin,
This month my gratitude continues as we observe Veterans Day and honor all the military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. At our upcoming “Girls Give Back!” event we will be sharing two special videos highlighting two women providing service to our country. First is Nell Stevenson Bright, who just celebrated her 100th birthday and was a pilot in WWII. The second is Colonel Jenise M. Carroll who is the Commander, 75th Air Base Wing at Hill Air Force Base. Learn more about these outstanding women at our Nov. 10th event. In addition, we will be using our creativity with Jill Johnson, the owner of Paint Mixer, to share our gratitude with others for this “giving season”. Finally, this month we are highlighting Ally Isom, Yasmin Khan, and mentee Nagwa Fokunang.

Yasmin Khan cont.
Yasmin developed the brand through a well-known incubator in Paris, France who spearheads development for the most prestigious brands in the world. She was given the opportunity to work with this incubator based on her passion to see something from her homeland, Oud essential oil, housed in a bespoke formulation exclusive and different to the current offerings in the beauty space. Her quest was to create an offering that was EU regulated, the gold standard of clean beauty, Vegan & Cruelty Free, Gluten Free, and free of PPP. A clean formulation with high quality ingredients that reduced the amount of products needed for upkeep and maintenance of the skincare regime made in Paris, France.
While in the R&D phase, from 2017-2020, Yasmin acquired her Master of Communication degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah where she learned everything about brand development. In 2021, she acquired a Master of Business Creation, an accelerator business degree, from the University of Utah David Eccles Business School & the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. While there, Khalm ® Skincare was chosen as a finalist in The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge in March of 2021 beating out several start-ups in a statewide competition amongst Utah Universities.
Along with her commitment to being a beauty entrepreneur, she shares a personal life committed to her husband, Dr. Qamar Khan, and her two daughters. From 2013-2017 she assisted her husband in developing his medical practice, Wasatch Pain Solutions. Today it’s a thriving medical practice with 15+ employees and 4 offices located along the Wasatch Front. She is honored to be a mom of two girls, who have witnessed the birth of Khalm ® Skincare, watching her conquer numerous obstacles to build a once in a lifetime brand. Through the brand’s work Yasmin hopes more young women find inspiration and purpose to go after whatever future they desire.
Yasmin said she joined Women Who Succeed because she is passionate about women securing education to access growth opportunities for themselves and their families. Building an educational portfolio for a woman brings personal independence, individual accomplishment and opportunities that may have not existed otherwise. Her life and career are perfect examples of what one can accomplish when education is valued!
A “Fun Fact” about Yasmin is that she never had a proper 3-day Indian wedding. She said that her husband and her felt that eloping was more their speed!
Ally Isom cont.
She held several posts in Utah government: Deputy Director, Dept. of Community and Culture; Government Relations Director, Dept. of Workforce Services; and Deputy Chief of Staff, Communication Director and Spokesperson for Governor Gary Herbert. Ally then worked at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, before moving to the private sector as Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, and eventually acting Executive Officer, for EVŌQ Nano.
In 2021 Utah Business named Ally one of “30 Women to Watch.” She and her husband, Eric, have four children and five grandchildren. Ally enjoys urgent essay writing, hiking, cooking, and mole poblano, preferably on a beach. Ally is currently a Republican candidate for the United States Senate.
Ally joined Women Who Succeed because she believes “you cannot be what you cannot see”, and because she had few female role models growing up. Ally wanted young women to know they can be whatever they dream, and she wants to be there to cheer them on!
A “Fun Fact” about Ally is that she rarely wins anything, but she once won free concert tickets to see Paul McCartney–and she was so close to the stage! That man played and sang for three straight hours. Ally says, “I was blown away!”
